1. What this service is. Expat Counsel Europe (“the Platform”, expatcounsel.eu) is an independent lawyer matching platform — not a law firm. Our only role is to introduce people seeking legal or tax help with independent lawyers registered with a national bar or professional body in the relevant country, and to coordinate the initial contact.
2. No legal advice; no lawyer–client relationship with us. Nothing on this website or in our communications is legal advice, and using the Platform does not create an attorney–client relationship with Expat Counsel Europe. All legal advice is provided directly and exclusively by the independent, bar-registered lawyer you engage, under a separate contract with them. Each lawyer remains fully and solely responsible for their professional work and is subject to their national bar’s rules, insurance and discipline.
3. Free enquiry; fees are set by the lawyer. Submitting the enquiry form and the introductory contact are free for you. If you decide to hire a matched lawyer, they quote their fees directly to you, in writing, before any work starts. The Platform may receive a referral or lead fee from the lawyer — this never changes your price.
4. No guarantee of outcome. Lawyer profiles, statistics and testimonials describe the network generally and are not a promise of any particular result. We vet professionals for registration and English proficiency, but we do not supervise their work and make no warranty as to any outcome.
5. Your obligations. You agree that the information you submit is accurate to the best of your knowledge, that you are entitled to submit it, and that you will not use the Platform to submit unlawful, abusive or automated enquiries.
6. Limitation of liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Platform’s liability arising from the matching service is limited to €100, and we exclude any liability for the professional services performed by independent lawyers. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
7. Intellectual property. The design, texts and structure of this website are the property of Expat Counsel Europe. Photos are used under free Wikimedia Commons licences.
